Trying to make Pillar in Abbitt Tut … but I Cant box select in Edit Mode in Wire Frame ? I object mode I can box select but it just selects everything anyways ?

Please give full screenshots with any questions. With the relevant panels open.
This can be done by Blender itself, via the ‘Window’ menu bar top left-hand side.
On that menu dropdown is ‘save screenshot’.

I see in a different open blender I can Box select in wire frame … but ive already got 2 finished objects in this open Blend and cant box select … I also have a radius circle following my curser around in this open blend which might be related ?

Yes!
Press circle select, and choose from the dropdown the square box!
This happens because you’ve accidentally selected a hot-key which changes the select option. Happens to me too.

OK . I tried to Box Select by pressing pen on pad and dragging it … Circle Select is a button ?

OK .it happened again , but now the box that had circle select etc has dissapeared ? Box with Diameter is where it was _?

Long press on that blue select option button, gives the menu

shift spacebarthenbfor box. - Or use
shift spacebarthencfor circle.
In mesh mode, you can select one vertex, or an edgem, or a face and then press l for link selected.
