I dont know what i did but i lost the grid . overlays is on. also once i get it how do i put the object on the centre of x and y axis. thanks in advance.

You can do that using menu “Window”
With shift c the 3D-cursor is placed on the middle of the 0,0,0 coordinate.
Press numpad ‘.’ to reset the view.
All kind of layers can be switched on/off, so for us it’s important to see a screen dump.

Try to familiarize yourself with keyboard shortcuts. For example, if you use gx to move the object along the x-axis, you snap to the object on the x-axis.
Once you have mastered these shortcuts, working with Blender will be a breeze. Have fun!
To snap to the grid, you can enable snap.
Plenty of option where the object will snap and align to. Worth to play around with this.
