If, like me, you find that the blueprints to scale the textures doesn’t work as expected then here is something to consider looking into.
I built my box brush room and placed it but didn’t cover the entire terrain with the room. I then snapped the room to the terrain, all good and well from the outside. However, if you select the floor of within the room, the blueprint scaling won’t work. Rather Unreal Engine will give you scaling options in the Details UI. This is because the box bush is sat ON the terrain and not level with it. So your room floor is the width of the brick, which you set in the earlier lecture when setting up your room, higher than the terrain floor.
If you place the texture on the terrain outside then the blueprints will work as expected.
So you can fix this two ways
- Use the scaling options provided in the box brush - Means you can’t follow along with Mike and could face other problems later.
OR
- Grab your box brush (room) and lower it so the base of the brush is embedded in the terrain floor. Don’t forget to lower your door, door frame and door cut out to take into account the new positioning. This option will let you keep following with Mike and see the blueprints in action.
