Used the bevel method with just one segment to fix the edges around the holes. It was something I had done before and it made sense in this context where the extra geometry is pretty natural in terms of what we’d expect from the real world object.
I also wanted to try texturing my bowling ball and I remembered having exported the UV layout of a model at some point long ago (UV editing → UV → Export UV Layout). So I did that and threw it into Krita. Played around with just some gradients and a logo of mine on the back. The UV layout for the ico sphere is pretty cool though so I decided to keep it on top of the gradient. Also cool how it illustrates the underlying geometry.
And I did another version with my subdivision modifier applied. Cutting it close to the suggested 10k limit at 9.6k hehe.
