Boolean not working

I am unable to perform a boolean modifier on the rook.
If I open a new file and do a boolean on two shapes it works fine.

Have a look see here:

So I was eventually able to do one boolean modifier, but the subsequent ones fail.

Fails again…

I’m on the latest version of Blender 2.82a

Any ideas?

It might be that the cutter piece lines up its bottom face too closely with the central face at the top of the rook. Booleans can be a bit sensitive to working if there is not a reasonably defined gap between geometry. Try ensuring the cutter is clear of all the rook apart from the raised rim. Or even lower the central rook top plane temporarily.

OMG, that was it lol, I’ve been struggling for hours. ha ha ha
Teachable moment I guess.
Thanks for that.
I lowered the middle of the rook and it worked right away.

I tell you though, I retained a lot of knowledge in the last few hours reiterating through all the techniques that the material has gone through.

There is an option (forgot where, probably in the boolean operator).
Which makes it more precise Like NP5 says. Some times the cut is too close to other geometry.
Then you need to tweak the option .
