Bone parenting lines looks weird

Greetings everybody,

I created an armature for my lamp and parented every single Lamp-Part to the Bone (ctrl + P → Bones). I first selected a lamp-part and then with “shift + select_click” the bone I want to parent.
Well long story short, every lamp-part is parented to the last bone.


I don’t know, but this looks wrong to me, if anybody could help me, that wuold be nice.

Is the base parented to the lowest bone?

It does not look like it.


Everything is parented to the last bone.
But I don’t know why, I clicked to the bones I wanted to parent with.

Allright I got it now, I just did it wrong in the first place.

What I did:

  1. Select object
  2. Shift + Select armature (the direct bone I want to parent it)
  3. Ctrl + p → bones
    The result of this action caused my problem.

The steps that works.

  1. Select object
  2. Shift + Select Armature
  3. Switch to Pose Mode
  4. Select the bone that should be parented
  5. Ctrl + p → bones
    An then I got the result I wanted.

Well sorted out.
If I recall there is a way that is supposed to work that is shorter, in fact Mikey does not change modes. It has never worked for me either! The slightly longer way you used is better, clearer and works!
