Blendr course Snapping lesson

I am in the blender beginner course snapping lesson. My problem is that im following the isntructions as my house on the rock is snapping with it being part of it under the rock. so i set the origin lower and then go back to snapping however it snaps the whole house above the rock.

Not sure, but did you try to apply the scale of the objects?

Select object, hotkey shift a then scale.

And are you sure you, aligned the object origin, for the objest?
And if the houses are the same are they then linked duplicated (alt d)
Or just duplicated shift-d.

I’ll just add that snapping happens at the pivot point (object origin) by default, and in your case, it’s very far from the house, so it should be moved closer to ground level, and also as FedPete mentioned all scale needs to be applied to not get errors.

Also, as a general tip, with houses it’s common to add a kind of “buffer zone” at the bottom, something that looks like a basement from the outside. That way, when you place the house on uneven surfaces, it blends in more naturally. This is a bit more of an advanced thing though.
