Blender - drag select (not box select)

I’m following Grant’s Anime character creator course and he simply drag left clicks to select a bunch of vertices instead of the usual box select. How is he doing this? Is it a setting? I couldn’t find this anywhere.

It could be circle select or lasso select. I don’t know which video you are referring to. Lasso select can be done using ctrl+right mouse button drag. Circle select is started by pressing C. Once it’s started left mouse button adds to selection anything inside the circle. Middle mouse button removes from selection. As of 4.0+ you can use ctrl+Left mouse button to remove from selection. Right mouse button exits circle selection.

Thanks Dwayne! It was near the end of the face videos he selects faces in Edit mode just by drag left clicking. Its strange its working for me now. Maybe I wasnt in Edit mode.
