Blender 2.8 help please

Hey I need some help. In order for me to run Blender 2.80 on my laptop, it says I need a graphics card and driver to support OpenGl 3.3. I just ran a viewer program to see what I actually have. I have OpenGl 4.0 and I checked for updates and it said everything was up to date.
I have Intel HD Graphics 4600 so shouldn’t my system be able to run it?

Did you install Blender and run it ?

I may be mis remembering but seems to me the blender docs mention that the program doesn’t play will with Intel.

I did install Blender 2.80 but it wouldn’t run. I had no problem running 2.79. Now I have nothing because it did something to the 2.79 and it won’t load now.

I went to Blender’s Support page and discussed my issue with someone on there. He checked some things and believes it is supported but for some reason my computer thinks my drivers are updated when they are actually not.

Blender Software is ‘stand-alone’, you don’t need to install it, as in “Install this piece of software.”

You can still download version 2.79 from the web site. Choose the.zip file you need for your system.
Create a folder on your machine blender279 (any name is good).
Unzip Blender in this folder, no need to install things!
Somewhere in the folder structure you will find an a file called blender.exe (in case of Windows). Now you have access to Blender 2.79

The same procedure you can do for Blender 2.8. Create a folder name blender280, download 2.8, unpack in this new folder. Find blender program. Now you have two Blender versions installed!

May be, did you overwritten the old old with the new one? And maybe the new version is corrupted, by the old one. Who Knows?

So, install 2.79 in a new folder. Then you can follow the old Blender course.
And install newest blender in a different folder. And test if you have still the video card problems.

Good luck, and let us know you progress!
