Bevel not working on the circle rim

I tried to bevel the rim of holes in bowling ball but id doesnt work.The bevel goes straight down but not smoothing like a circle. Pls help

Check your original model mesh before bevel!

The to be beveled edge can contain edge duplications.
So select mesh and perform a merge by distance on the vertices.

I moved to post to the ‘ASK’ section, better suited for your post.

Note: extrusions (e - command) lead ofter to -invisible- edge duplications.

Smoothing is not done by the bevelling.
One or two segments will be enough.

In Object mode you need to right click on the ball and shade smooth.
