Here’s a video of my now damageable rocket.

Rather than stone cold killing the player, I’ve given them a health stat that degenerates every time they impact the environment.
This is based on the impact speed of the rocket, so hitting the environment faster will do more damage.
I’ve given each environmental object an impact threshold and damage multiplier, which allows me to quickly add new terrain types to the level.
I’ve also added a nice bouncy material to push the player off the surface and stop them landing where they shouldn’t.
