I have a question. When I tried using the first person mode thing using shift + F it didn’t quite work as I expected for some reason when I used w or s… it moves forwards and doesn’t stop even if I don’t hold the key and for some reason the scroll wheel is moving in/out instead of controlling the speed of movement. I was just wondering why mine seemed to act differently.

Alexander, in the user preferences under the ‘input’ tab, on the left hand side, you will see the option to ’ walk’ or to ‘run’.
You will notice a difference if you toggle this option.
