So at this point, using shading was more detailed and accurate to what I wanted to do, but I know that using a shading map will be cleaner and better for exporting to a game engine. I did seem to have a problem selecting the heel of my boot to get colored. Instead of the near brown that the instructor selected I went with a lime green as my background color. Because of that you can just see the heel sticking out on the right boot. That way if anything was missed, it would be obvious. With 16 px as bleed protection I wasn’t worried about green sneaking in. It can also be replaced later with a neutral color in case resizing does cause an issue.
