here are my 10 axes

Then I pick one I liked the most and make it more detailed and add some basic shading although it’s not great mainly on head part of the axe :D.

I found out that twisty and bendy parts are little bit difficult to do in one stroke. Knob part for example, I had to do it in two strokes and although I kinda managed to hide it, there are still some strokes that went too far and ruined line flow.

Problem wasn’t in position from which I was drawing. It was more in how long and bendy that line is (entire backside of the handler to first finger “hole”). With power of the hindsight I could have add something on back side of the handle to break a flow, which would fix it.

Seeing the notches for the fingers. The ax handle is very short, more a knife like.
