Argon Assault turned Synthwave Defender - first level done!

First share!

Spent some serious time figuring out these 80s synth aesthetics. Ship can move and spin on its axis; lots of work left to do. Thrust is a tightly constrained particle effect. Love to hear people’s thoughts.

Yes, looks great! Looking forward to seeing it in motion with appropriate music.

Here’s a quick video of the early gameplay. SynthWave Defender Game Moment

Wow, love the aesthetic and the music.

So it’s done! First level is out and posted to itch.io (https://jscottgeo.itch.io/synthwave-defender).

Love to hear what people think!

Very nice!
Did you use some shaders for those neon grids or how did you fix that style?

Looks very cool! How did you make the sky and sun? I’m going for a similar look and would love to know!

Very cool, man!

Hi akaiR,

I’ts been a while, but I’m pretty sure this was the asset pack I used: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/particles-effects/retro-aesthetics-79538

For the sky and sun, you’ll just want to find the right skybox from the asset pack. It’s highly modifiable, but did include a lot of assets I didn’t use.

I also used the UCLA wireframe shader: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/shaders/directx-11/ucla-wireframe-shader-21897 (this one is free!)

Good luck!

Thank you! I found that asset pack too but was to cheap to buy it :stuck_out_tongue: But it’s good to know where I can find it!
