Appending + render issue / Results

Hi,

(Edit: Issue solved: TL:DR: I was a bit tired and didn’t double check hiding geometry in render view)

Old post

I may have an issue with rendering, have a look:

Issue:

The first panel is a rendered image(F12 key)
The bottom-left one is in render viewport (Maj+Z)
The bottom-right one is the basic view (Solid)

As you can see the rendered image (1rst) doesn’t have all the details of the rabbit, like if the sculpting was not effective. But the rendered view (2nd) seems just fine, how strange

Settings:

I created the basic shape like in the lecture 135 - Basics of sculting - in the basic scene blender file, then I appended the rough-looking bunny in a second blender file to sculpt it and there wasn’t any issue when rendering:

I then appended the rabbit in the first scene (File - Append - Object - Rabbit) and the issue appeared out of nowhere :persevere:
I have the exact same settings of render for the two files.
I have tried to change from blender render to cycle, same issue.

What did I do wrong ? I tried to link import but it didn’t change anything. Should I import something else with the rabbit ?

The fact that the ears look okay is troubling me (the ears were added and sculpted in the second blender file only). I think something isn’t right with the double append (Scene file -> Sculpt file and then Sculpt file -> Scene file)

The first easy two solutions I see are:

  1. Working with the second blend file and recreate the scene
  2. Use the Shift+Z instead of F12 (meh)

Blender files:

v2.79, be careful with incompatibility
Rabbit body.blend (3.6 MB) - Sculpt file

Rabbit scene.blend (3.2 MB) - Scene file

I’ll keep on searching for a better solution, but if you find one: thanks in advance !

Now that the issue is solved, you can have a better look at my rabbit: Enjoy !

He does need some fur

Cheers !

Hello, you rabbits looks exactly how in files
Rabbit body.blend
image
Rabbit scene.blend
image

Problem maybe - you render wrong layer?
Or overlapping objects, anyway try off render all objects / figure out which objects works in render, and render sepatate …sometimes it helps

One rabbit with mesh
image
and another
image

I think its different mesh data)) thats problem

Thanks for your answer @jakarta, I just figured what went wrong.

I actually didn’t turn the meta balls off, but only the empty parent:
So it did overlap in rendered view …

Sans titre

Silly me, I thought I had gone CTRL + LMB on the empty’s camera icon, thus deselecting all the render view of the metaballs, but no … :expressionless: (I did it for the eye icon, though)
This should teach me to always double check what I have done.

Anyways, I think you are right on the mesh data names and I will change it right away. Thanks !
