Hi, so this is how i consider when making this project.
It will be better for me to make each chess pieces in a separate blend files. The reason is that it will be much better if each pieces is set at the center of the world axis. All the pieces will be contained in the “course” folder (I’m planning to make my own custom chess set). The materials will be put in the TEX folder outside the “course” folder. I’ll prefer duplicate each base blend files and make them into each pieces. Creating the individual pieces top and then appending the base file or appending them first will just a waste. That’s my desicion.

Sounds like a good plan.

Good plan, but it can be different in the way you will design the base.
Some designs can influence the way you set things up.
So think ahead and stick to the plan.
There are many ways, to manage projects and objects in Blender. You will learn.
Don’t make it too complex.
