Anyone know why the instructor creates a prefab?

So in the past videos, to create a prefab, we just drag an GameObject from the Hierarchy into the Project/Asset window. However, in this video, the instructor right clicks then select Create, then Prefab which creates an empty prefab. He then drags the GameObject (in this case Ethan/Zombie) into it to create a prefab.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the two methods? Why would you use one over the other?

He just showed a different way of doing it, it does the exact same thing as dragging a gameObject to the folder.
