Animations will not cycle properly (Glitch Garden)

I am currently in the Glitch Garden section and all my animations so far will not cycle properly, I am following Ben’s instructions, reviewing the component’s settings, rewatching the videos, but it seems pointless. I have tried different settings and options, but they will not work as well.

I will give you two examples that really got into my nerves:

The first one IS ALREADY FIXED, but it happened when I tried to create the clips for the lizard to spawn, walk and attack. He only jumps once and begins to walk (that is OK so far), but when walking, the last frame would not connect properfly to the first one to create a smooth walking animation. The same thing happened to the Attacking clip, the last frame would not connect to the first one to have a smooth animation. I simply added a keyframe after the last frame and it miraculously solved my problem, both walking and attacking animations were functioning OK after that.

The second example is not working even after all my efforts. In this situation, I am trying to animate the Axe (projectiles in general) by making it rotate 360 (form 0º to -359º) and the same thing is happening, the last frame will not connect properly to the first one in order to have a smooth animation. It looks like the animation clip is slowing down its velocity (but it is not) all the way to the last frame, then, it will not cycle properly like the ones in Ben’s videos.

As mentioned, I have changed the settings in the components, the clips, controllers, but the animations will not cycle smoothly, even after adding a keyframe. I am adding some screenshots of the component and animations clips. Here is my screen, I have more attackers and one extra defender so far.

I have also posted this in the Udemy Q&A, you can check the link here.

I will be glad to answer any questions, I hope I made myself clear.

Are you using Unity 5?

Ok, looks like you are from the screenshots on your Udemy link.

Could you get a recording of the animation and post that up here so it’s a bit easier to see?

One thing that occurred during this section in one of the lectures was that when the animation sprites were pasted in, they were pasted in between the default start/end points - that caused Ben’s animation to behave in an undesired fashion, but I’m guessing you would have spotted that.

Screenshots from the Animation (bottom left of your first screenshot) with the Body : Rotation expanded and with the time line bar being position at the start and then in another screenshot on the end also.

Or, wrap up the whole project and upload a .zip file to here and I’ll take a look and see if I can spot anything else.

Post over-lap, sorry… I literally just edited my post as you posted!

Hello, Rob, thank you for your attention. It is OK, I did not see you edited your post. I saw the issues Ben had, but in this case, while animating the Axe, I did not use any sprites, just rotated the body object in the animation windows, and for translation, I used the projectile script. Once again, thank you for looking further into my project. Here is the whole project uploaded. Glitch Garden Project

Hi,

Thanks for uploading the project, I will grab it now, but it will be about an hour before I can take a look at this end, I hope that is ok.

That is perfectly OK, Rob, I thank you for helping me.

Great… will be back to you as soon as possible…

(history homework with my son at the moment!)

Looking now, sorry for the delay @Top_kek

Hi @Top_kek, sorry for the delay…

Select your Axe projectile in the Hierarchy, whilst viewing the Animation tab, select the key frames, right-click and choose Auto.

Prior to version 5.5, which introduced an option “Clamped Auto”, “Auto” was set as default. Hence it not being mentioned in the lectures/videos.

Hope this helps.

That was the actual problem, Rob, thank you for helping me solve it! I just got back from Udemy Q&A, but here I am to personally thank you for your time and dedication. I wouldn’t imagine I had to manually select Auto, but I will spread the word if I see anyone with the same problem. Thanks!
