Amount of white space/no data

Hi all, this may be nothing but I noticed something with regards to when in the lecture an amount of data is selected, the amount of space/data highlighted many times differ from when I do the same selection.

I know it does not contain any data, but instead of not reading it, won’t it actually read it now as an empty space containing nothing. In this scenario, it might not have an effect, but in larger programs, would it have an effect?

If you’re talking about the dots. That’s showing you that the whitespace is x amount of spaces.

Here the whitespace on the else has 4 spaces the others 1 or 2 tabs.
