So I used AMD’s Radeon ProRender for a while and it does a fantastic job with realism and PBR materials.
The higher quality materials in their own MaterialX library used to cost something to get them, while lower quality were free. Good news though, now it’s all free and they have some really nice stuff.
Is that for AMD cards? Presumably, made to work with them? At least there seems to be a fix on it’s way for Mac/amd card users in Blender. In the next update I think
The render engine is for AMD cards yeah, and uses it’s own shader nodes. The materials are fantastic, but the materials library will work with Eevee, Cycles, whatever render engine you want since they are image based. MaterialX is an open source standard, but the library I linked is images, just like textures.com, polyhaven.com, etc.
The real goal of MaterialX is to make materials compatible regardless of which render engine you want to use or switch between and make the .mtlx extension universal. It’s pretty cool stuff.
