I’ve gotten to the part of the course for retopology and yes it came out just like the instructors but that doesn’t mean it’s not rubbish. I think learning to do it manually is next on my list of learning because doing that I think will be easier than fixing this mess. Still loving the Character Creator course, and the
instructor though. It’s not a course or instructor thing it’s a blender thing. Ha Ha, I will get this. Sorry just had to vent before I get back to it.
Hey! I`m still finishing my Blender Creator course, but this one is in a queue. Glad you like it!
Why do you think it is a mess?
You can also retopologize with a higher mesh …
It all depends on what you want to do with the model!
It’s not about mathematical precision, but efficiency in time and resources (computing power).
When you do the texturing part, you will see how much a normal, texture, cavity map will enhanche your low poly model.
I hope when you get to this one you love it as much as I do. I have been using blender for a few years but mostly trying to figure it out on my own, and watching a few tutorials. I have learned so many amazing thing in this course. I have been so excited doing this course right from the beginning. Learning how to use tools and modifiers I never tried before. Work flow and so much more. Blender had stopped being fun and just turned into frustration for me but with this course I have rediscovered my love of Blender and it is no longer like work and total frustration. I can spend hours doing stuff and it feels like minutes. I am working on a couple of my own things along with the Orc in this course already using things I learned with this.
That makes it better to know. I think because I am a bit of a perfectionist maybe I wasn’t seeing that part of it. I want to make characters to bring into Unity so they need to be the low poly that he is teaching but I need to stop being so obsessed with making the low poly look as nice as the high poly and wait to see what happens with the texturing part. Thank you so much.
I had the same experience. Figuring it out by yourself, using YouTube. Which lead to failure.
Following these courses, a blessing in knowedge.
It’s al part of a learning curve. Meaning, how low is low poly. It’s the experience you need to build by trial and error. I had also the need (feeling) of being mathematical correct. But, I left that path. It’s more a creative process now.
Like, the correct statement, there is only one sun! But in Blender you can have many, just to make the creative process happen.
Have fun!
I am now hoping I wasn’t to fussy with it. I will share with you the high and low poly.
I do still need to do a little more to the low poly face but that is in this section I am on now. I will share with you a screenshot after the texturing if you like.Yeah, I follow you.
Be amazed about the power of normal maps, etc.
I was procrastinating this part so much. I was terrified it would all go horribly wrong but it wasn’t that bad.
I’m not sure I make a good baker but I did keep adjusting it until all the brown spots were gone. We will see how it goes.
the first one I saved had the brown spots and then I must have redone it about 20 times before I finally got the spots gone. Not really sure if they make a difference or not but he didn’t want them so neither do I, lol.
