Thanks to some advice, I converted him into a T-Pose before I joined the meshes. Good lesson to learn, would have been much easier If I had done this earlier in his creation.

Looking good. No opposable thumb! that species will get nowhere. 
I am assuming the leg position is it’s version of standing?

Yeah that would be the default standing position and believe it or not, that “finger” at the top is supposed to be the thumb. you make a good point, I will try to make it positioned better. I can’t un-see it now that you said that xD
