GrafX2 is a good application for PixelArt, even though its user interface is somewhat unconventional. It is free (FOSS) and runs on both Linux and Windows (and possibly also Mac OS).

Personally, I utilize Pyxel Edit. It’s a fairly affordable tool, and great for Pixel Art.

Neat - that looks like a browswer-based app. That should work just fine for this gamedev.tv course.

That looks like a decent app. There is also a learning tab on the website which gives some additional tutorials apparently. Thanks for the resource!
