Such a shame it turned out a split, better luck next time!
Really loved the idea about checkers on the bowling pins, so here we are.
I made this render and post before starting the next lecture, which is about Eevee settings, so I tinkered around with Cycles and I really like the final result. Playing around with lights was probably the most time consuming part for this challenge, but I had fun, so everything is fine! 
UPDATE: After looking up some bowling videos on the internet, I’ve came to decision to remake the render a little bit to not leave any pins lying on the alley, so here comes another scene!
