When i went to use the knife tool to split my base into 3 parts I found that only about a third of my base had vertices and edges that i could edit.
Not sure what has happened…

Perhaps there are somehow two base objects, this one having only a part of the other. Test deleting this object. It looks like the base that is complete is a separate object.

I somehow had 3 bases almost on top of each other!
