Adaptive workflow

Cartoon-like style is hard … But I lack the practice of course.
It helps to see basic shapes and refining them. But those basic shapes are sometimes difficult to recognize.
So instead of an action (dance) pose, I decided to do a frontal ©, using a reference. Getting grip on size and dimension.
Number four I forgot to look at the center of gravity. Easy to fix in Krita/Gimp.

I always struggle with characters. I agree it is hard to tell what shapes to use and how to morph them into something detailed. Nice job.

Yes, exercise is the key. I draw a lot on a small piece of paper. Just scribbles. Try to remember some of the key points. Like facial dimension, but I already forgot. What I do is create an example figure and write down the key points. A young face is different than an old face. A young face has a bigger neck and eyes, for example.

But posting you work is also good. Some people see other mistakes. Have fun!
