Try to search on this forum, many questions about this have been entered.

In my opinion, you need to learn to program, preferably a Game engine UE4 unreal, Phaser …
Because you have an idea you want to create. And game mechanics is very important, so you should write down on paper how the game should work, the level of difficulties, scoring mechanism. look at other games and think about how you can make them better. How to build user interfaces

Many, many students want to create games … but creating games involves so many competencies, impossible to fulfill them all in one person. Like game design (how the game works), Programming, visual design, marketing, testing, 3D modeling, 3D texturing, audio, Music. User Interface design, storytelling …

There are many YouTube videos on the web, of persons who became a game dev. And explain what they did or which mistakes they made.

3D Creation can be important, but a lot of 3D objects can be downloaded for free, so why bother creating them. Same for music, are you going to create your own music too? Or re-use, or ask someone to write music …

Start with a small game, like break-out. And see how far you can get.

Two primary routes I would guess. By going to formal schooling, colleges, universities etc. or the home learning and doing courses like GameDev offer.

I presume your school can advise about their formal routes and they may be the best to ask for where you are.

The informal route has millions doing it. You can create your own games and publish them. You can specilaise in doing part of the process in a team. Or get so good in a specialty that a company will employ you. I am guessing here but for that last you will need to have a portfolio of great work that shows you can make high quality results in your area of specialisation.
There are thing called ‘game jams’ where random people get together to make a game each contributing the things they specialise in. That might be a way to get some experience of working with others to a single end game.

It is possible to make a game all yourself, but it needs decades and a lot of luck for it to make you any money let alone a living.
