After a few bumps and ruts I have come out with hair that consistently renders in Cycles, not just Eevee.
Far from perfect, looks like his head is smoking, but even the little bit of hair and grooming does do him some good

Of course you would want eyelashes on him. Next thing you know it, you will be asking for a beard too! (and maybe some ear, nose, and chest hair!)

Actually, I was talking about his actual back- you know, the area with the spinal cord. But then again- I did not give proper context. I was wondering how manicuring could be used to help that

Oh yes some deep hollows there, wrap a collar and the shirt round it, add a tie, Poor old man must be cold by now!
