I have completed some of my lamp stem. There will be a few more parts added to it later, and I may change my colour a little later, but all and all it is turning out decently enough.
Right now it looks like some sci-fi radio or gadget.

Ah a little known Victorian table tuning fork!
Place on a table and bang on it. if it does not resonate the tuning fork it has the wrong dimensions or construction! A poorly resonating table is not fit to entertain guests on and has to be consigned to the servant’s quarters only.

Because if it does not resonate well with our table tuning fork, it will certainly not resonate well with the guests!

Add details later, because then you know which parts to enhance.
The same for materials (colors).

That sounds like a good idea. The extra parts are more for style (like little knobs for tightening the rotation bits).
