A lamp using an armchair rather than an armature would be a interesting challenge!
The Lamp is perhaps using the armchair to sit in while it is reading? Armatures would be harder to use in that case. But with enough armatures, they could perhaps serve as a book stand. Apparently lamps don’t have hands. 
Then again, he could get his clock buddy who does.
