I meshed around with my Lamp/Microscope contraption as instructed, and added a Sun light. Because I am working in cm I had to play with my shadows settings.
I also noticed that when I am viewing through my camera the shadows look terrible. However, when I zoomed the camera in or rendered the scene, the shadows did not look so bad. But there is a mysterious lighted line on the top of the picture…
The viewport typically renders at much lower resolution so it can quickly update on the fly and not have you waiting ages for a “refresh” of the image every time you move a little bit.
The render is higher quality - although you can change these yourself. No need to this early on though,
You can see the 2 values under Render Properties -> Sampling
I Try to work in real dimension for the objects (no scaling).
This because of Eevee settings are based on this.
But for shadows, you need to switch on a lot of eevee options.
