3 minute compile times? Is this normal?

Hello, as the title says above, I am having absurdly long compile times in VS code for Unreal Engine. I have UE4 on my SSD and my projects on a 5400RPM 4TB Hard Drive, connected over SATA in my computer case. Every time I go to compile, after change code and some times header files, I am finding myself have to sit for 2 to 3 minutes. Is this normal? Or expected since my project is on a Hard drive? Also, the data transfers seem pretty low on the hard drive, like 3MB/s or 4MB/s, it varies a lot.

Do you get the same with Live Coding disabled?

So far in my limited time with Unreal 5 it seems inconsistent.

Where is that sub-menu in UE4?

That’s the menu from UE5. I believe the equivalent in UE4 is in the editor settings under the file menu but I may be wrong. Generally, putting projects on an SSD is recommended as it increases performance and compile time. 3 minutes is to be expected and is quite respectable on a standard HDD.

Sorry I thought you were doing the UE5 content. Live Coding is disabled by default in UE4 so it wouldn’t be enabled if you didn’t do so.
