Building up the assets

Candy stick bands

Obvious., low poly

Still WIP, but no time to finish it (I need days, or a better system)

I had planned this one carefully. Building up a asset library. Which would help to compose a scene.
But I find working with assets hard. And somehow, updating the source doesn’t update the linked copy. I still haven’t found a good working process.
Key is scaling. Everything you need is the same scale at start, but how big is a Candyhouse?
And previously made assets are probably in a different size.

Working on my gingerbread house! I know it’s a bit early for christmas (considering it’s not even halloween yet…), but I’m liking how this is turning out. It’s these unexpected challenges that I tend to enjoy.

Here’s the final version. Now, I need to see about making a haunted house for another challenge…

Nice!! Hope to see it in color

The topic deserved more attention, but alas, time is an expensive resource and there is always not enough of it. So I apologize, but here is my candy house (semi-finished product). Marshmallows count as candy, right?

Marshmallows are probably my favorite candy. I like how you used them as bricks!

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 43 “Toys” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Candy House” challenge may select a subject for next week 44 and win a badge.

Must confess, got this idea from AI. I didn’t want to make a gingerbread house (again), and my imagination refused to show me a house made of candies, so I asked the AI to draw it for me.

The cutest selection (and after that the AI started drawing gingerbread houses)

And now I remembered that I was going to make gummy bear tenants!

Well, hey, if you’re going to use AI in any way, this is how to do it! =D

I use AI all the time to generate ideas. AI has become more reliable than using Pinterest or Artstation for ideas because I can type in exactly what I’m trying to visualize. I love using AI.

Congratulations FedPete. I tried a different approach for the Candy House theme. And I tried to make a village of sorts. The focus was on making assets. But I ran out of time. It’s easy to lose time on details (because that’s fun to do), and forget about the bigger picture, the composition of the scene.

  • xealstrag - Delicious candy and cake feeling. Cream topping well done and very nice details. Maybe the solution was too obvious. That’s why I choose a different approach.
  • Megane_Wang - Traditional Candy house. I think a different lighting setup would improve the end result and the construction is too ‘clean’, would expect more misalignment of items. (there is also a window in the upper right tree …)
  • Kzanne - I like this Candy house construction approach. Scene presentation is good. Improve shadows. Make it softer (ambient), you can add lights and config to not cast or object receive shadows.

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!

Thank you for your comments!

… yes, the trees are mint hard candy and they are reflective. With some additional time and better finishes (environment, better “candy-not-mirror” surface or even converting them into gummies), this should have not needed an explanation :woman_shrugging:  !
