There is a size limit on Giffs.
In cycles glow doesn’t exist.
You need to perform other Blender tricks, like working with the compositor.
With the compositor you can perfom image manipulations like Photoshop, but on object levels.
Here you can add a glare effect, which resemblance bloom in Eevee.
In my version I didn’t do that, too much work. But I did a tube in a tube to get more glass effect.
Loving it. I had this idea also. Starting with atoms in a tube, which leeds to the neon tube lights.
But difficult to make a good composition and story…
Yes. The quality gods are cursing me right now Lacking youtube channel
Ive had a brief look in to graph editor and that’s what I came up with. Rotating stuff
I’m betting all the entires will be brilliant this week… aha-ha-ha… kill me now…
Changed my petty GIF for this. It was interesting to discover how neon actually work. And process of making them in glass. Fascinating.
I know I haven’t been active in a while. Sometimes life gets in the way of participation in things we enjoy, but I did make something for this one.
I’ve really missed doing these.
Yes, these Blender courses are just a starting point, for people with different interests and starting points. And then paths depards, no worries.
This is waaay beyond my current knowledge but all the entries are brilliant. I particularly like Digitz interpretation.
From chemistry Neon colors to natural green.
Next week 25 challenge

Having fun, that is the main goal!
Plus it can illuminate such refrigerator with its by properties. Cool when you wakeup after chilled nap.
Not sure though this wires/tubes would be sufficient for the task in hand
I like the way it’s lit. Super dark environment with good detailed lighting.
Voting entries week 24 “Neon” theme
We have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your own entry.
And the next subject, week 25 “ Forest ” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Neon” challenge may select a subject for week 26.
Nice entries all
Nice work, everyone. The entries were… illuminating!… eh? Eh?….
I’ll see myself out…
@Mateusz , congratulations on a good neon story and visual.
- FedPete, what’s the story here …
- Rao, I think too much glow … and neon tubes have a beginning and an end, yours are looped.
- Mateusz, for a viewer it is a strange view location, looking down. Most people will stand on the street and look up to see the sign.
- Digits, a very different interpretation of the Neon look. Cyborg type of feel, I think it needs a background to give more meaning to the visual. A high-tech city, a street …
- NP5, I miss some details in the background, machinery or so. Especially where the light spots are. Why would you place lights if there is nothing to see.
Just my thoughts! Have fun, new subject is active “Meadows”.
Oh yes, I just resisted making it a full science lab, I fall too easily into overcomplexity and details. I had the idea late too and wanted to show something different from the expected neon signs. The human/creature is rubbish too. It looked too dark so the lights just got added late, so it is more warehouse storage unit, than science lab!
