@Mateusz great work mate.

Thanks Niladri.
Island sand and the ocean are one material. Took me the longest to work that out. But now I can make any islands apply this material and magically all this appears. And the waves can be animated too.
So im happiest about that

All the textures are looking fabulous. Specially I like the sand dry at he top and wet near the water. Extremely realistic :+1:

Thanks.

For the wet sand ive just used saturation node on the albedo texture from the set
. But texture itself is from textures.com so I cant take credit for that.

Tech-wise, I haven’t had a good week at all, this week.

At the beginning of the week, just as I started my Arthropod Weekly Collab entry, my trusty and much loved Logitech G500s mouse packed in and so I’ve been forced to use a horrible 2 button (no DPI) thing that feels so alien to me…

Then mid-week I got an update on my Sammy mobile and that corrupted my phones OS which demanded much of my attention to fix. Can’t be without a working mobile phone right?

Then tonight as I am close to finishing my Collab entry, I render out a sample, which takes ages, save,… and reboot my PC — for an auto-update (SCSI I think it was) and then I spend the next 2 hours (it was already 3am, now 5am) circling in boot loop and BIOS failure, time and again… Then I had to go searching for a paper copy of my MS login to repair.

I’m sorta back up and running now, but I better post my entry now which is practically finished (although I did want to consider some minor changes before deadline - but can’t risk another boot failure tomorrow.) Hope you like it…

My entry for Arthropod is a Scorpion.

You have still one day to finish the “Arthropod” Blender collab.
At the moment there are not that many participants. Not a problem.
Finding the spare time and working on Blender projects can be a problem.
Maybe the next subject gives you the inspiration to challenge yourself.

Have fun, stay healthy!

New week 19 challenge

We have a new subject, chosen by Mateusz
And it is called “Fruit”.

Great entry. Despite a real nightmare time with all the tech dying! At least you seem to know how to fix such things, when they happen to me it is the end of my world! One of the few things that makes me really grumpy. lol.

Real cool entries, I didn’t have much time to work on one this week so I won’t participate in this one…

@Josa_Booba How did you do the sky? Is it some volume in the background?

The sky is done with an Ocean modifier (on a plane) flipped 180 and extruded up slightly (just the outer most edge) and then face filled… A very high strength and same size Area lamp just above the filled face give the colour. And yes it uses a principled volume.

It added a huge amount of rendering time though.

@NP5 will still be without a decent mouse for a few weeks. I ordered a cable from China to fix my G500s.

I really hate when tech goes bad and have to fix it immediately or I won’t sleep…

But it looks great.
Thanks for sharing

Were you reading my mind last weekend??? Scorpio is my Zodiac birthday symbol, and if I had the time, it would’ve been what I tried for this collaboration.

Thank you @Josa_Booba, and very nicely done.

Voting entries week 18 “Arthropod” theme

We have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your own entry.
And the next subject, week 19 “ Fruit has already started. The winner of this week’s “Arthropod” challenge may select a subject for week 20.

Excellent entries. Well done participants.

I was working on something but got bogged down in texturing, well out of time. Great works all entries, was a good subject too wide possibilities but surprisingly similar entries.

Geeze, which one do I choose? All three are so well done, it’s a tough decision this week.

I can’t stand scorpions, and the realism of your really gives me the creeps. I have to give it to you for that and the wonderful atmosphere of your scene. Nice job!
