I first began programming in graduate school while I was pursuing a PhD in Genetics. I started with Perl, then picked up some R, and a bit of Python, before writing a population genomics simulation engine in C++. To learn C++ I crammed the basics by studying a book on game development, programming simple games much like the TripleX game while learning loops, functions, and OOP. I later left the program with a master’s and a nagging interest in game development. Now I’m trying to boost my C++ knowledge and learn about unreal engine so I can get back into programming and potentionally a job I love.
