Worn Edges Problem

When I follow the exact steps as the lecture, I don’t get the sharp areas of white and black (even on a Suzanne) with the Geometry input node, the Bright/Contrast colour node, and the principled shader. Instead, when I apply contrasting colours, the whole model changes colour when I adjust brightness. What am I doing wrong? Using v. 2.82.

Do you use the pointiness node?

I do believe that one doesn’t work (bug).

Yeah, I did. Is there a better option to work around the bug?

Did some digging, from what I can tell it’s an Eevee bug. It works in Cycles just fine (though it’s slow as molasses on my laptop). I’m gonna go digging into Eevee settings, but if it’s really a bug I hope they figure it out.

I used this one as an alternative to pointines.

But my results are so good as in the video.

Placement of the rust.
I would take in consideration,where people will hold the staff. less rust more metal.
But more a issue for fine tuning …
