Where are you from? What's your experience?

Hi

Roy here from Norway, been interested in making games since ages ago. Now I finnaly am on my way.

And I absolutly love maths, it’s so much fun. Have been programming before, but laied it on the shelve for a while, so now back to start, he he he

Hi! I’m Aeryn from Washington state, USA.

I struggled a lot in math in my early years of school but finally got into the top of my class by the time I graduated high school. I’ve a lifelong passion for video games and the art, music, and stories they contain and have always wanted to make my own. I was raised in a pitifully low income bracket so I was always afraid of going to college for game design because of the massive debt that could be accrued but thanks to Humble Bundle I can finally afford to chase my dream!

Hello everyone!
My name is Jacques and I earned a Master of Science degree in Psychology in the Netherlands. Orginally I am from Germany but I have also lived in Canada.

I do not have a lot of experience with computer programming or development in general. But at least I had lots of statistics courses in university, maybe that will come in handy later :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, my motivation for this course was originally to develop an RTS game like Company of Heroes (yeah I know that’s gonna be a huge challenge :sleepy:). But I think the main goal right now should just be to gain some experience and gain some new perspectives

Howdy,

My name is Joe and I hail from Austin, TX.

I’ve done software development as a career for that past 20 years, though nothing as glamorous as making games. In the past, I’ve had a ton of fun as a hobbyist building mods for Skyrim and Roblox. Since I’m already familiar with Visual Studio & C# I figured the Unity classes on gamedev.tv would be a good next step. Not to mention that if I stick with it, I can justify buying a new gaming desktop

Hi everyone, my name is Michael Lorenzo, from not so sunny Portland, Oregon. I haven’t done much math since college, (Game art and design) but I made it through calculus without too much difficulty. I’ve done some small amounts of programming, but looking forward to learning math in relation to CS.

Hi Walter, here. Just going through the course for fun to see what you have to say.

Continuing the discussion from Where are you from? What's your experience?:

Hi everyone.
I’m Joshua from Down Under! (Australia). I quite bad at mathematics, ironically good at programming, but I am using this Maths course to bridge my gap between c# GUI and CLI’s to games.

I only just started to enjoy mathematics when I started to get real-world comparisons. School never taught that way (Real World) so I go off to the clouds. But once I found this teacher called Eddie Woo (On Youtube of all places), who taught real-world Maths, my mind was open. Since this teaches Maths in a gaming world, I know this will keep my mind busy. My fingers typing and scratching my head.

I CANT WAIT!! :grinning:

(I hope that made sense :joy:)

Welcome to the course.
Eddie Woo is a fantastic math teacher and I can definitely see how he would get you excited about math!

Hi everyone,

I’m Maxi, I’m from england. I went to college for IT but barely learned anything, hence coming here for some actual tutoring. I have minimum experience, but i’m excited to learn!

Vincent from California, USA here.

I live in a fairly rural area so most of my experience is through researching whenever the needs arose. My first (decent) engine was Stencyl, and I used that to learn the early concepts of programming. I then moved on to programming from scratch in the java language. I’ve more recently decided to forgo having to develop my own engine and am in the middle moving onto Unity.

Hi
My name is Mauro, from Portland Oregon. Taking the math courses as a refresher since it’s been about 15 years since my last formal math class and I figure this is a great time for a career change.

Hello,
I’m Elias from Germany. I’m already doing simpler Mathematics, Statistics, and Probability in my Job as a Software Developer for a Business Software. However, I want a refresher on Geometry and other Topics. I’m really looking forward to freshening up my Math skills in these Courses.

Hello all,

i am Alexandra from Germany. I learned School maths and as I studied “Angewandte Informatik”. But I struggled with Vector and Matrix and even function things… I could not remember them well in the long term…

I am a software developer, but normally I don’t need maths in my work. I do hope this gets better with this course :slightly_smiling_face:

I really want to make at least a small, simple game so I can say “I did it a game”. (I would love to make even more than that, but only time will tell  )

Hey y’all!

I’m Layne, from the U.S., state of Ohio. I’m actually a Cultural Anthropology student, and have always wanted to apply the awesome stuff I’ve learned about (and still am learning about!) to media, and I’ve always wanted to learn to make games. I’ve always been intimidated about learning, though, largely because of the math involved.

I can’t stand math, most of the time. Never enjoyed classes like trigonometry or calculus, and I’ve been wary of games due to the math I’d have to dive into. I’m hoping this course can help change my mind!

Hello all,
Name is Ludovic, French living in the UK.
Work in IT and do some development using Visual Studio C#.
I need to refresh my math skills to improve my programming skills overall (not only games).

Hi!
I’m from Brazil and I started learning programming and game dev in college for a year. I did some basic stuff for years, but nothing that came close to real programming.
I really want to learn more and for me the best way is being guided but being able to experiment freely, so I think joining this course is something that will really help me get going : )

Hey,
My name is Mika and I am from Finland. I just finished High School and I was decent in math there. I did get into this course because I want to learn what basic knowledge in math is important for making games and also how to implement my current math knowledge in coding.

Hi, I’m Lily
I’m from Virginia and I don’t really have much experience with gaming or coding other than html in middleschool

I hope to learn how to develop games one day and maybe even work on a project with others someday

Hello!

Reuben here! Building skills with the Unreal and the Blender course has reignited my love for learning! I used to love maths at school but without any practical application my memory has grown very foggy, looking forward to relearning the simpler stuff and exploring the more advanced!

Hi I’m Rabbit from Canada, have tried to upgrade my highschool math grades so I can get into some courses at university/college but have had difficulties balancing it with work. With Covid and losing work I thought I should try again and after hearing about this course from the humble bundle.

Really fascinated with how this course will connect what we learn to programing in the Unity kits that are also included.

I would like to develop vr applications and experiences someday.
