Totally new to this. I may have missed something, but what is the function of the comma? The instructor is wacking them in like nobody’s business and I feel like I’ve not been told.

Comma is used to separate things. If you are talking about semicolons, they are used to tell C++ that “this is the end of my statement! Stop here!”
