What is that in the corner?

Mike, or as they are wont to say, Mikey references some numbers down on the lower left.
I have gone into User Preferences and made many changes, installed a theme and the interface is now much easier for me to read.
But those numbers down on the lower left are STILL the damnably tiny and unreadable font that is the default of Blender. In other referencing I can see how that set of numbers is going to be quite useful.

Please, what is that and how do I make changes to it?
I need to make the font larger. I have set the rest to 15 points and this is great for me.

Have a look at the Widget points (middle left of that screen) in the preferences, is that what your looking for?

Thank you for getting back to me OboShape,

OK, that is the User Interface and I hace been there. I have increased the size of the font and even installed a theme. All of this is very nice and readable, for me at least.

But see that bit down in the lower left I have drawn the red around? THAT is what I have not been able to find and alter in the User Interface.

apart from changing the overall DPI of the interface, I cant find a way, and the might of Google hasnt returned me any inspiration either.

@Marc_Carlyon, @Michael_Bridges any of you guys able to shed any light?

  1. File->User preferences->System
  2. Change virtual pixel mode to Double not Native.
  3. Lower DPI until display is comfortable (mine wont go below 48 but i am on a 42 inch tv  )

Its not a perfect solution but its the best i can come up with.

Hope it helps

OK, I did get a solution. It does not change the DPI, However, you can change the color of the font and for me it is an enormous help.

User Preferences -> Themes -> 3D view…down in the Theme Space Settings, I changed the Text: to white.

Nice one that you’ve found a workaround.

I was thinking changing the color of the text would be helpful, but I never knew exactly where to find it.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Does look like a slightly darker theme you are using. That won’t help :-).

What is you system resolution?

Hi there Mike!,

I want to take this chance to commend you personally and the Udemy
organization in general for making this class so very good. Blender can be
quite intimidating. I know it was for me.

Thanks to the course I was able to change the theme of the interface and
the DPI, all of which made the “visibility” of the interface MUCH better.
The theme is Science Lab and the DPI has been bumped up to 17. I am an old
fart that wears trifocals and these changes were close to mandatory changes
for readability. You commented on the theme looking dark. And yes, some of
it IS darker than the rather bland grey of Blender “out of the box”. But
Science Lab is also more ‘contrasty’ and considerably easier to read.
Increase the DPI and well, [refer back to the old fart admission]

However, one place was not addressed and it is something that you had
mentioned in several lectures:
As you can see in that one pic it is black on a very dark background.

I was told how to fix it on another site. Something like Blendermax. I am
ashamed to admit I have lost the bookmarck to the site.

The second pic shows the essentials of the “fix”.
User Interface -> Theme -> 3D View. Then down a bit, right side, theme
Space Settings I changed the text to full white.
