4:16 into the lecture it is explained how to make a generated edge from the loop cut before scaling to prevent the faces above and below from creating an angle.
Everytime i try to follow these steps i do not achieve the same results for some reason.
For some reason you have proportional editing enabled. Disable it, it will only be introduced in S06
Basically this function allows you to softly move faces/vertices/edges that are not selected

Thanks @Sam_Hamsord, The most common reason for this is when hitting the number keys at the top of the keyboard you can hit the “O” key which switches it between enabled and disabled.
Its one of the reasons i prefer using the numerical keypad if you have the option.
