What a Wonderful Section

You have no idea how excited I am to start blowing stuff up.

I think everybody has wanted to blow that cube up at one point or another.

I made a bouncing ball.

So I posted about this in the Q&A, but I’ll post it here too. I’m trying to copy the physics properties, but when I add a rigid body, blender will not allow me to select multiple meshes with rigid body applied. Box select, cursor select, not even A will select anything but the object selected. I am in object mode. I have tried in both cycles and blender render. I have tried using duplicate and linked duplicate. I have tried with different meshes. I’ve searched google for an answer, in the forums and here in the Q&A. I can’t find what’s going wrong. I’ve watched the video over and over looking for what’s been done differently. I’m stumped. What am I doing wrong?

(Video of the issue)

I have replied on the Q&A but i think its a matter of holding shift and right clicking each cube.

Thanks for getting back to me Marc.

I’ve left a reply in the Q&A. My screen cast keys don’t show when shift is held down unless it’s with another key, but I assure you I am holding it. By updating my version to 2.78c it will now allow me to select with shift, but if I select the rigid body as the active object the whole selection is canceled.

I’m moving on with the course, but if anyone has any ideas on what is going wrong it would be wonderful to hear them.

My wall. I did make another using the repeat function, but the array modifier makes it so much nicer.

Managed to get the bounce I wanted before it hit the wall.
L 250 Animated Physics Challenge
Due to the above issue, I had to select every brick individually to set the rigid body.

I couldn’t figure out how to make the explosion smaller but got it to stick and bounce just the same.

Hi Nixe,

I have managed to recreate the issue finally not sure why i couldnt before.
I cant find a way of doing what you are the way its done but i have found a workaround.
If you select all the objects in the scene you want to add the rigidbody to then you go to the left panel and click physics tab. On there you will find a rigidbodies menu and it has a tab to add active.
This should add an active rigidbody to all selected items.

I am not sure why it doesnt work link it appearingly should.

Hope this helps for future references and to others. (Including myself)

Edit there is also a copy from active option there two which would more suit your needs if you had the physics on one already
Which i have tested using three cubes as long as you select the active one last. Although it doesnt look like its selected so maybe you selected twice?

I knew there had to be a workaround somewhere and you found it! I still can’t select more than one rigid body at a time but at least I don’t have to add it individually anymore.

This was fun to do. I’ll definitely be playing with it more in the future.

I wanted to see if I could get the balls to bounce off one another using the force.
L 253 Affecting One Another Challenge

The workaround for my problem worked wonderfully for this, but I would have had to set all the keyframes for the animation individually for each cell fracture since I still can’t select more than one rigid body at a time. So I only ended up animating one brick.

I guess this was the last challenge. This section was lots of fun and I learned lots of neat things. Thanks for adding it.
