Unsure about difference between using sine for movement and Vector3.MoveTowards

I did a few Unity tutorials before this one and heard about a function called Vector3.MoveTowards. And I am wondering if MoveTowards is related to this sine method of movement or how it differs. Maybe they are completely different function methods to be used in completely different scenarios but I don’t know. Do any of you know?
