Tree Texture

can anyone tell me why this is happing? so if I sculpt before or after I texture the tree it seems to mess up the texturing on the sculpted area.

Hi! Are you UV unwrapping your tree after sculpting it? Could help.

You might get away with using the Generated vector from the Texture Coordinates node, if you feel like trying that.

Thank you very much, that was it. before I was able to apply the image texture and then adjust the point mapping to make it look good but if I sculpt the mesh the mapping was messed up in that area. so I played around with unwrapping as you suggested. I did a smart UV project which took blender a long time to calculate, maybe 2 or 3 minutes. adjusted the point mapping again and got a much better result.

That’s great! No problem!

Yeah, any time you make a change to the geometry of your mesh, it will have an effect on any texturing or mapping that you’ve already applied. That’s why it’s usually left til last (remember the whole ‘lean’ thing)
