While creating objects, we need also to apply some logic in the scene. To make it more believable.
The chest is lighted inside the box. This could be true, but not that common.
Place lights outside the box, shining inside. Which make the box also visible.
Light inside the box, makes it more mystical, true. Like filled with gold … then draw gold … diamonds, pearls, … So much fun this project, keep on, be creative.

I now see what you mean with the light now you pointed it out, good for next time. Also filling it in with gems and coins might be a fun thing to do when I know my way more around blender.
