Titan: Fires Above GDD

Here’s the GDD template for a passion project that’s already been in design production for a few years now. This course is about helping me take the next real steps in actual development.

I’m excited and proud to get to start sharing some information on the Titan universe. This all began as a homebrew for tabletop RPG that continued to grow and grow until it reached a critical mass; at some point it could no longer be derived from the original system–it fully replaced it.

The world and narrative created in that process has continued to provide “OMG” moments for my players that I hope to encapsulate into an addictively authentic storytelling experience here. The idea is to inundate the player with options rather than limiting them to a few tough ones. The omnivore’s dilemma is a key source of difficulty for my players that I want to use as foundation for this game. In the executive aspect of gameplay, I hope to bring the managerial excitement of a roguelike to the table as well.

Planning for the unknown with permanent consequences is something I and my players always look for in games. Real, touch choices that are relatable, but dramatic. No plot armor. No sparkles. Characters die quickly and easily, and it’s your fault somehow for not being there in one way or another. That’s the kind of game we enjoy, and that’s what I’m making here.

I’ll probably release it for free on Steam depending on the quality, then maybe develop more later if it takes off.
