The Pawn

Hello everyone! So I have a pawn here made with a single cylinder and nothing else, I decided to do the pawn and come back and cut the base off and save it in its own file. So what I have here I don’t know if it qualifies as high or low-poly, but i enjoyed the way i crafted it with only edge loops and a subdivison_surface modifier of only 2. Hope you like and don’t be afraid to be critical and if you think its high or low-poly!

Here is a screenshot of the tri-count etc…

Seeing your mesh, I would say it could be accomplished with fewer loops (vertices).
So it’s more or less a high poly model. You will learn.
it’s not that important at this stage.

Thank you for the feedback.

A fine pawn. Medium poly, but low poly is not good or better unless you have a need or reason for it to be for things like games. Sometimes the course is over obsessed with low poly, not everyone is only using Blender to make game assets. It has advantages in teaching though as there are less verts to confuse students.

How would you say the poly count would effect animated films or shorts? What i mean to ask… is low-poly also a good thing for those assets?
