Sword Trying textures and thin mesh

So I tried modeling a sword i own, the blade shape is almost exact to the real thing, the hilt and pumle are just simple shapes as the real sword is very ornate with lions. the scrollwork is also pretty close, but i had trouble getting the textures to do what i wanted and when making the blades edges i ran into a lot of problems with the mesh not wanting to sit right. but here it is for now.

Very cool looking sword and nice detail work!! Awesome job! Try applying the edge split modifier it may help with those edges not sitting right for you

Ty, though how does the modifier work?

Just select the part you want to apply it to and go to modifiers then edge split. The mod has a few options, many times you do not need to change the default setting but you can change the angle or select sharp edges …try playing around with it so you understand how it works. Ever make something just perfect then you apply smooth shading and like magic it suddenly looks like ****? Edge split modifier is your solution to that very fun and frustrating problem haha. It allows you to hav sharp edges on a smooth shaded object. I made a few swords way back when and got soo frustrated with this very subject so thought I would mention it just in case

Here is a link to the mod in Blender docs

Thanks a lot for the info. I will definitely have to try it.
