I’ve just started the Simple Shooter section of the course and am trying to setup the project. I managed to unzip the Shooter Asset Packs into the same folder but when I open the project the Wraith won’t show up in the contents section. I’m not sure if I’ve done something wrong as in the video tutorial the Wraith folder is in the content browser but in my project it isn’t.
Yup. I’m on a MacBook and I think it did it automatically, after downloading. I saved them all in the same folder but when I open the file in Unreal Editor the Wraith is missing. Also, in the video he jumps to this window called ‘Choose a destination content folder’, and I have no idea how to get there.
Those are not the same folder. All 3 zips should go into “ShooterAssetPack”, your program that extracted those put Part2 into (presumably) “ShooterAssetPack-2” an Part3 into “ShooterAssetPack-3”. You should merge 2 and 3 into the first i.e. copy/move their contents to “ShooterAssetPack”.
That seems to have worked. I copied the Wraith folder separately into the ShooterAssetPack content folder, hopefully I won’t have any issues going forward. But it’s now with the other folders in the Unreal Editor.
One other thing, how do you copy a file in the Unreal Editor? Is it duplicate or is that another function altogether? I ask because in the video they copy Map1 from the modeularScifiSeason1 folder within Unreal to the root(content) folder and I’m struggling to do that.
So, I tried that and still no luck. Even when I right click to find the option for copy and paste, there is no copy, just duplicate, which I tried but I am unable to move it to the root folder as the person does in the video mentioned.
I’ll keep trying to figure out what to do, and what I am doing wrong but I am still stuck at the moment.
Sam is using keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste. These are practically universal keyboard shortcuts no matter the program. On macOS replace Ctrl with Cmd.
Hi, so I didn’t manage to get it done in the Unreal Editor but I managed to copy and paste it in the folders on the hard drive. I hope that was right and it won’t give me any issues in the future.
